Hello and Welcome to Nurture & Nanny’s February Newsletter!!

February is a month filled with celebrations and traditions.  Not only is it Valentine’s Day Month, it is also Black History Month and Chinese New Year!

For Valentine’s Day this year be sure to remind the ones you love of just how special they are to you.  Make a card, bake some cookies, or just make some time to spend in each others company.

Celebrate the rich heritage and accomplishments of African Americans by honoring Black History Month.  Visit http://www.kidsreads.com/features/0402-BHM.asp for a great selection of children’s books that share stories and accomplishments made by African Americans throughout history.  Read them with the children in your care.

Chinese New Year is celebrated February 18th.  This year is the year of the Pig in the Chinese Zodiac – The Pig is associated with fertility and virility. To bear children in the year of the pig is considered very fortunate, for they will be happy and honest.  Introduce your family and friends to Chinese New Year by decorating your doors and windows with the color red (considered to be a lucky color).

Make some new memories with your children this month while exposing them to new cultures and traditions.

All the best,

Lara
