Hello and welcome to Nurture & Nanny’s October Newsletter.

September was a great month.  We continued to build on our nanny community by hosting a Baby Sign Language class presented by SignShine - www.signshine.com  It was great to spend time with the nannies that participated and I know that as they teach the children in their care what they were taught in the class, they will be very successful at it.

September was a month of celebrations as well.  Friends of Nurture & Nanny were visited by the stork while others exchanged vows promising happily ever after.  It was a month of new beginnings and endless possibilities.

Now it’s time to start thinking about Halloween costumes and can you believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner?

Here are a few Trick Or Treat tips to make your Halloween safe and fun!

  • Carry a flashlight with fresh batteries after dark.
  • Wear identification that's easy to read.
  • Always trick or treat in groups, accompanied by an adult.
  • Stay on the sidewalks and out of the streets. Cross only at intersections and designated crosswalks.
  • Only visit well lit houses. Don't stop at dark houses.
  • Don't enter any houses unless you know the people.
  • Carry a spare Halloween bag -- in case yours breaks or you fill your original one.
  • Don't eat any candy until it's inspected for tampering under bright lights.

Enjoy!

All the best,

Lara
Developing & Fostering a Relationship with Your Child's Nanny
For your child's sake, a parent needs to develop a good relationship with the person who is caring for your child during your absence. The stronger the relationship with your caregiver, the more comfortable your child will feel as he/she interacts with the two of you. The better you communicate with each other about the child, the more continuity of care on a day to day basis. Read on to learn more.
Homework Tips for Children with ADHD
Many children with ADHD are bright students with difficulty in one or two subjects. A key to remember about the ADHD child and homework is that the world (environment, expectations, and tasks) is often overwhelming. Read on to see what you can do to help.
