Hello and welcome to Nurture & Nanny's October Newsletter!

Fall is finally here and Halloween is quickly approaching.  Get ready for pumpkins, costumes, and Trick O' Treating.  I'd love to say get out your winter coats and warm up that apple cider, but we live in Los Angeles..  so take out your socks and put those flip-flops away.

School has started, summer has said good bye.  This is the time of year when we begin to get ready for Halloween, start making plans for Thanksgiving, and for some, unpacking the Christmas and Hannukah decorations.  We begin to become aware of  the change in seasons, we notice the trees transform from lush and green to bare and vacant.  This is the time of year where childhood memories are made and traditions are formed.  We are reminded that youth passes in the blink of an eye and we need to stop and take a moment to look around and appreciate it.

One of my fondest memories during this time of year was going Trick O' Treating with my oldest childhood friend Suheila.  We would grab the biggest pillow cases we could find, climb up into her parent's attic to create our truly unique costumes, and go out there amongst the other ghosts and goblins.  We would trick or treat until we could barely lifts our bags of loot.  My favorite part of the night was returning to her home and trading candy.  We would spend hours on her bedroom floor trying to decide if two tootsie rolls were really equal to one tootsie pop.  I reflect on these memories with great fondness and they invoke feelings of security, warmth, and adventure.

With this year almost at an end and time moving faster than ever, remember to take the time to make your own memories and form your own traditions with your loved ones.  These moments will make a lasting impression in the lives of your children.

So get started and send us your stories if you'd like to share them.  Please send them to lara@nurtureandnanny.com.
We'd love to hear them!

All the best,
Lara
